Pontech buys Marina Systeme SWEDEN: Pontech AB of Sweden has signed an agreement to buy German business Marina Systeme from Saferoad A/S. The company is Germany’s largest producer and distributor of concrete pontoons and accessories for marinas. With annual sales of approximately €2.5 million, Marina Systeme has 15 employees responsible for production, distribution and delivery/installation. It has additional operations in Poland and Denmark. Further to completion of the acquisition, Marina Systeme will continue under its current management but the focus will be on accelerated expansion and further business development. It is now trading as Pontech Marina Systeme GmbH. WORLD NEWS Pontech AB has experience in the concrete pontoon sector via its holding in Pontech Marina AB and Svenska Pontonhamnar AB. Second phase completes at Port Canto FRANCE: The second phase in a project to install Marinetek Heavy Duty pontoons at Port Pierre Canto in Cannes, South of France, has taken the iconic marina to its next level as a superyacht hub. When Port Canto opened for business in 1964/65, it made history as the first leisure boat marina in France and became a catalyst for marina development in the region. From the outset, it attracted the most demanding customers in the Mediterranean and aimed to offer high levels of service. In the same spirit, the City of Cannes – its current owner/operator – has looked for renewed marina facilities that will meet the highly discerning needs of A €1 million marina in Stettin, Poland, recently completed by Marina Systeme. superyacht owners and crew, now and in the future. Further to competitive tenders, the City appointed French construction company Vinci to build the new infrastructure and in order to preserve the goodwill of berth holders, construction work was minimised and streamlined throughout 2014 and early 2015. Marinetek delivered its second batch of concrete floats this year. All units were manufactured in Marinetek Latvia’s factory and were transported to France by road. The highly stable pontoons are generously proportioned, and feature hardwood decking and a special mooring cleat fixing system that allows for universal adjustment. They are moored by Seaflex. The pontoons can be reconfigured if necessary in the future in order to accommodate even larger superyachts. - November/December 2015 15
